Meet Our Founders
Chip Smith
I was born December 11,1942 in Green Bay Wisconsin. The sun shone all day and people remarked that it was the most wonderful winter day ever. I attended Statesville High School and graduated in June of 1960. I earned a BS in Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina, at Chapel Hill in 1965, cheering in the streets of Chapel Hill.
I worked at Kerr Drugs from 1965 thru December of 1974.
We founded Triangle Pharmacy in April 1975 and then added True Value Hardware in 1980. By 1985, we were ready to expand and we opened the Woodcroft store.
I served NC Mutual board 12 years
We turned over Management of Triangle Pharmacy Inc to two wonderful daughters 2012.
Linda F. Smith
I was born in Franklin N.C. in 1942. We moved to Statesville, N.C.in 1954, where I finished high school in 1960. Chip and I were married in the spring of 1963.I graduated UNC with a degree in English/Education in 1964.
I put my degree to work teaching 7th grade in Moncure , N.C. while Chip finished his degree in Pharmacy. Now that was the real education. Some degrees don’t prepare you for the work place.
Our daughters Alice and Missy were born in 1966 and 1968.Little did I know I would eventually end up working for them. Our daughters married and gave me four wonderful grandchildren. Taking care of them before they started school was the BEST time of my life (if not the busiest).
In 1975 we opened Triangle Pharmacy .Over the last 37 years the business has grown from one pharmacy (about 5000 sq. ft.) to two pharmacy /hardware combinations (each about 12,000 sq.ft.)We are currently employing all three generations .As the first generation is stepping aside, I am confident the next two will carry on and Chip and Linda will drive off into the sunset to enjoy their retirement.
